Our President, Barack Obama, in January established an office for “peace in the Middle East”. The official heading up this office is to spend 2 weeks in Jerusalem at an office established there and then 2 weeks back in the states. The purpose of this agency is to open up communication and dialogue between the Middle Eastern countries as well as to develop plans and strategies toward peace in the region.
One of Obama’s plans is to create a Palestinian State in Israel. The question is, will this actually create peace in an unstable theocratic region dominated with radicalism and the absence of civil liberties? I do not believe so. As much as I would love to see peace in the Middle East and as much as I pray for the peace of Jerusalem as mandated by Holy Scripture; there is a spiritual principality over the region which seeks only death, destruction, and devastation. Leaders such as Hamas and Hezbollah have showed little regard to advocating peace unless it involves the complete removal of Israel preferably by the death of multitudes of Jewish men and women.
However, even with this understanding President Obama seems to operate in a fog, oblivious to the realities of the spiritual conflict presented; and yes, it is a spiritual conflict. He truly believes that eventually, if we all act nice towards those who engage in Jihad, they will come around to our side. This is a nice dream, but spiritually flawed. In Spiritual warfare the Apostle Paul exhorts to keep alert and be ready to fight by putting on the full armour of God. Scripture also warns us to not be deceived, the devil roars about like a lion seeking whom he may devour. Jihad is the devils battle plan. In this theocratic region; it is not a physical battle we face, but a spiritual one and thus the real only peace can come from the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.
College professor and radio talk show host Dennis Prager stated that “Sometimes it’s nice to have dreamy-eyed idealists, and sometimes it’s better to have realists about the human condition.” In the Middle East there are those leaders who are ruling as pawns of the devil and his plan to rid the earth of God’s chosen people. It is ok to have a dream, but let’s be real, a Palestinian State will do nothing to appease the devil and those facilitating his plan in the flesh. Instead, it will start a war against Israel and Gods people and according to Psalms 2, God will hold in derision those who wage war and plot in vain against Israel.
President Obama; a Palestinian State and peace do not coincide with each other.
